BLACKFOOT — A Blackfoot man who attempted to rob the Video Jalisco store was sentenced to seven years in prison.
Cristobal J. Aguirre was charged with felony attempted robbery in July and pleaded guilty in late October. On Wednesday, Seventh District Judge Darren Simpson sentenced Aguirre to three years fixed and four years indeterminate in prison.
The judge then retained jurisdiction over the defendant, sending on a rider. The retained jurisdiction program is one that addresses the underlying cause of criminal behavior in an Idaho Department of Correction setting.
Simpson also ordered that Aguirre pay a little more than 2,200 in fines and fees and gave him credit for the 148 days the defendant has spent in Bingham County Jail.
